Lee Wochner is the co-founder of Counterintuity, LLC, established in Los Angeles in 2007. Counterintuity has won 50+ awards for its work in the field, including many peer-jury-awarded MarCom Awards, Communicator Awards, and W3 Awards, and recognition as California Small Business of the Year.
Counterintuity works exclusively with nonprofits and public agencies, helping them cut through the noise, tell a story that moves people, and turn that into real fundraising and community support. Client engagements include PBS, Planned Parenthood, the California statewide ballot initiative Proposition 21 (Yes for State Parks), University of Southern California, the Cities of Los Angeles, New York, Santa Monica, New York, and Burbank, the San Mateo County Silicon Valley Convention & Visitors Bureau, the Santa Monica Convention & Visitors Bureau, Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica, Center Theatre Group, Pasadena Symphony and POPS, Grand Central Terminal, I Love New York, Hollywood Media District BID, East Hollywood BID, Penn Station, YWCA Greater Los Angeles, and others.
Lee has a Masters in Professional Writing from the University of Southern California, where he taught graduate-level writing for 10 years, is a former grantee of the California Council for the Humanities and has served as a PEN West judge.
He has served on many boards, including the Hollywood Community Foundation, Digital Agency Meetup (current chair), Community Foundation of the Verdugos (chair emeritus), the Burbank Chamber of Commerce (chair emeritus), Leadership Burbank (chair emeritus), Arts for LA, California Arts Advocates (chair emeritus) and Moving Arts, a theatre he founded as artistic director in 1992. He is an award-winning playwright who has served twice as a PEN West judge (drama division) and 10 years as a panelist and workshop leader at the annual Great Plains Theatre Conference in Omaha, Nebraska. Prior to starting Counterintuity, he was a theatrical producer and later served as President & CEO of LA Stage Alliance, the performing arts service organization in Los Angeles.
He is recognized by the State of California as a “California Thinker.”
